Hopwoods Repairs was established in 1984 by Malcolm Hopwood — a talented technician and business owner who believed appliance repair should be done properly, with honesty, and at a fair price.
He was later joined by his son, Adam, who shared his passion for repairing appliances. Since then, the team has grown and the service area has expanded to include South Gippsland, Bass Coast, Baw Baw and Latrobe Valley.

My appliance is out of warranty. Can you still repair it?
Absolutely. We specialise in out-of-warranty appliance repairs and can often restore appliances quickly and cost-effectively. In many cases, repairing your appliance can save you money compared to replacement.
Are all appliances repairable?
Not always. Some appliances may have reached the end of their useful life or may not be economical to repair depending on the fault, age, or availability of parts. Our technicians will always provide honest advice so you can make the best decision.

What are your service charges?
Our minimum service call fee includes the first period of labour onsite. Additional labour charges may apply depending on the complexity of the repair. Parts are quoted separately if required. If return visits are needed to install ordered parts, you won't be charged a second call-out fee — only additional labour and parts. Visit our pricing page for charges in your area.
Does your repair service include a warranty?
Yes. Hopwoods Repairs provides a 3-month warranty on workmanship and manufacturer parts as per supplier/manufacturer. If your appliance experiences the same issue after repair, please contact our team and we'll assist you promptly.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept Bank Transfer, Card Payment and PayTo (direct payment).
How do I book a repair?
You can book a repair by phone, email, or through our website contact form. Providing your appliance brand, model number, and fault details helps us prepare for your visit and improves the chance of a first-time fix.
What information should I provide when booking?
To help us diagnose the issue efficiently, please provide: your appliance brand and model number, a photo of the rating plate showing model, product and serial number details, a description of the fault, any error codes displayed, when the problem started, and any recent power outages, leaks, or installation changes. This helps us arrive better prepared and may reduce delays if parts are required.
Why is communication important before the repair?
Good communication helps us provide faster and more accurate repairs. The more information we have before attending, the better prepared we can be with likely parts, tools and diagnostics. This increases the chance of resolving the issue on the first visit and helps avoid unnecessary delays.
What does my appliance warranty actually cover?
Most manufacturer warranties cover faults caused by defects present from manufacture — such as faulty components or assembly issues. They generally do not cover wear and tear, blockages, damage caused by misuse, installation issues, foreign objects or accidental damage. Many customers are surprised to learn that standard manufacturer warranties are often around 2 years, extended retailer warranties may vary, and "10-year warranties" are commonly limited to specific parts only and may not include labour. If your appliance may still be under warranty, we recommend contacting the manufacturer first to confirm coverage and authorised repair arrangements.
